I agree that Wordpress is the way to go. I have used it to create a wide variety of websites. With the Headway theme framework, you get complete customization, although there is a little bit of a learning curve (but you learn basic CSS and HTML, which is never a bad thing). Lately, I have been using it to create membership sites with the Magic Members plugin. With the right plugins, Wordpress seems to be able to do anything.
